The Parkes Shire Tourism Board acts under delegated authority of Parkes Shire Council (under Section 527 of the Local Government Act). The Board is charged with the execution of the tourism objectives and the observance of the tourism policies as resolved by Council. The Board has the primary responsibility for tourism planning, development and marketing in Parkes Shire. In doing so, the Board observes and implements the strategies outlined in the Parkes Shire Tourism Strategy. The primary purposes of the Board are to: - liaise with Council, the community, the commercial sector and tourism operators; - advise on tourism development and marketing; and coordinate industry funded initiatives.
The Board is to consist of maximum 10 members: The current 8 Civic representatives are:
