Coordination Unit

Last modified: July 10, 2006 - 1:36 PM

The support of the Family Day Care Coordination Unit ensure that Carers are resourced, trained and up to date with current child care practices.

In addition to this we provide Playgroup Session, access to Toy Library, Craft and Paint Supplies, Fun Days, Phone Support and alternate care arrangements.

The Family Day Care Coordination Unit
The Scheme is administered by Early Childhood trained staff, the Coordinator/Authorised Supervisor, 3 Child Development Officers and 1 Administration Officer with up to 45 Carers.

Provides Families with information about Family Day Care .
Staff Conduct Courtesy Calls on a regular basis to all Families.
Assists Families in choosing a suitable Carer
Recruit and monitor Carers, providing training, support and resources.
Administer Child Care Benefit (CCB) and other government subsidies.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children throughout annual home inspections, regular home visits of trained staff and adherence to NSW Family Day Care State Regulations and the Parkes/Forbes Family Day Care Scheme Policies.
Staff visit Carers on a regular basis. The purpose of home visits is to determine how the child is progressing in care, observe the child, monitor the quality of care and offer support to the carer.
If a staff member observes that a child may require professional attention in a certain area, for example speech therapy, optometrist or other professional assessment, staff will contact the parent/guardian and inform them of the concern or alternatively the Carer may discuss the matter with the parent.
Carers are carefully selected through interviews, Home Safety Checks, Working with Children and Referee Checks and must have a Current Senior First Aid Certificate. Carers have training in Child Protection, Child Development, Occupational Health and Safety and other relevant topics.
