Information For Families

Last modified: June 3, 2009 - 5:01 PM

Parents are welcome to telephone or visit the Family Day Care office at all times. Please feel confident to talk to your Carer or Coordination Unit Staff member about your child/ren. We wish to work in partnership with you to provide the Best Care for the individual needs of your child.

It is often useful to share information with your Carer about your child?s sleeping routine, their favourite toy and any other relevant information that will help your Carer throughout the day.

Children with special needs
Family Day Care Staff and Carers are able to discuss any additional care requirements your children may have. Commonwealth support is also available to assist Family Day Care services to include eligible children with special needs.

Immunisation
Parents are required to provide the Family Day Care Carer of the updated immunisation record of the child/children. In the event of an outbreak of vaccine preventable disease, unimmunised children will be requested to stay at home for the duration of the outbreak for their own protection.

Childcare Benefit
Parkes/Forbes Family Day Care Scheme is funded by the Commonwealth Government and is therefore eligible for government child care subsidies, i.e. Child Care Benefit. To see if you are eligible for this assistance, you need to contact the Family Assistance Office on 136 150.

Enrolling your Child
Families are asked to contact the Family Day Care office either by phone or by calling in. Staff will arrange a suitable time for a a registration interview where you will be provided with important information related to using our service. At this time you will aslo be required to complete enrolment forms and will be referred to the available carers . When enrolling your children you need to provide us with your date of birth and Cutomer Reference Number (CRN) (from Centrelink/FAO) and also your child's/children's. To enable a smooth transition into care, parents and children are advised to visit their selected Carer in their home prior to commencing care. This provides you and your children the opportunity to become familiar and comfortable with the Carer and the new environment.

Hours of care provided
The hours of care are flexible and can be matched to your family's needs. Family Day Care is available to working and non-working parents. Care maybe available on weekends or overnight if needed.

Types of care provided include:

  • full-time care
  • part-time care
  • casual care
  • care for children of shift workers
  • before/after school care

Programming
Through observation and individual programming a range of experience and materials are provided to meet the needs and interests of every child. Carers provide age/stage appropriate and cultural experiences to develop positive self image and high self esteem for children.

Interactions
All children are provided with many opportunities to explore and interact with other children of different ages through regular playgroup sessions and daily experiences. Carers provide a safe, warm and stimulating home environment for you child.
