Swimming Pools

The pools run at a substantial loss each year and are provided as a public service. Council is responsible for the running of the pools in accordance with legislative requirements such as Department of Health (Public Health Act 1991), Child Protection legislation, and the Local Government Act 1993. Reference is also made to The Royal Life Saving Society Australia Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation. Council approves the use of the pools by various clubs and organisations prior to the start of each season.

A Pool Management Committee containing representatives from Council and pool users considers applications for the use of Parkes Pool. This Committee then recommends a programme for Council approval.
