5TH ANNUAL CENTRAL WEST CAR CLUB CHARITY SHOW & SHINE, 14TH ANNUAL EARLY FALCON NATIONALS & THE 15TH ANNUAL PARKES ANTIQUE MOTOR CLUB SWAP MEET & CAR DISPLAY
Head out to Parkes for the 2009 Parkes Car Enthusiasts Weekend taking place Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October. With over 10 national and regional car clubs participating in events over the weekend, there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
Saturday will see the staging of the 5th Annual Central West Car Club's Charity Show and Shine taking place at Pioneer Oval. The event will also incorporate the 2nd Annual Ford 'B' Series Nationals along with displays from the Monaro Club of NSW and Club Commodore of Australia.
The Charity Show & Shine will take place from 9.00am till 3.00pm and entrants will be judged in a number of categories including the People's Choice Award, where spectators can vote on their favourite vehicle. Entry to the event is by gold coin donation with proceeds going to the Parkes Branch of Can Assist. There will also be a raffle, BBQ and refreshments available throughout the day.
Also taking place on Saturday is the 14th Annual Early Falcon Nationals with over 60 cars from around Australia participating. Entrants will assemble in Victoria Street in front of Col Fletcher Ford before enjoying a tour of the Parkes region.
Early Falcon National's Event Coordinator Ben Holt said, "the support from the local community in preparing for the event and accommodating our needs has been outstanding. Having a local Early Falcon owner in Hedley Nicholson has been a real boost to this event, and I'm sure that Hedley is looking forward to showing off his home town to the rest of the Club".
Rounding up the weekend on Sunday is the Parkes Antique Motor Club's 15th Annual Swap Meet and Car Display. Each year the event grows, and sees stall holders and visitors participating from all over New South Wales.
Taking place at the Showground, the Swap Meet will open for trading from 6.00am with covered and uncovered sites available. Trader sites range from $10.00 to $20.00 in cost, and for those just wanting a look or a bargain, general admission is only $4.00. Also on the day there will be car and bike displays from the Parkes Antique Motor Club, Early Falcon Car Club, Central West Car Club plus other regional car clubs including Cowra, Dubbo, Bathurst and Leeton.
Parkes is centrally located in NSW and easily accessible by road, air or rail. Parkes has plenty of quality accommodation with a range of motels, hotels, caravan parks and bed and breakfasts' plus a great selection of restaurants and cafes.
There is plenty to see and do around the Parkes Shire for visitors over the weekend including our well known attractions, The Dish, The Peak Hill Open Cut Experience, The King's Castle (A collection of Elvis' Memorabilia), The Parkes Museum, The Alpaca Farm, The Fish Fossil Hut in Peak Hill or 'Utes in the Paddock' at Ootha.
