'Checking We're Still on Track'
A community workshop will be held on Tuesday 27 October from 9.00am - 4.30pm in the Coventry Room of Parkes Shire Council and the community is invited to register their interest to participate. Council will once again bring together groups and organisations that have an influence on the Shire so that all views can be heard and any changes to the future plan agreed.
Parkes Shire Council will review the directions developed three years ago to 'check that they are still on track' and need your help to do this. A very important part of the review is to understand any new or emerging community priorities and how we should all be responding to the changes we're facing.
It is three years since Parkes Shire Council held the very successful 'Play Your Part' community visioning workshop that set future directions for the Shire. Much has been achieved since then and much has changed around us - economically, environmentally, socially and with our national, state and local leadership.
Council is encouraging attendance from a cross-section of the community and is hoping for representation from representatives in the following areas: villages and townships, developers and investors, cultural groups, neighbouring Councils and other levels of government, education, community groups, tourism, transport, rural industry, environmental groups, health, and business.
Register you interest to participate by contacting the Parkes Visitor Information Centre on 02 6863 8860 or download the form below. Registrations of Interest forms are to be returned to Parkes Shire Council by Monday 28 September.
Council is also working on ParkesNOW, a document that summarises what has been achieved in the last three years and the present issues being faced. Upon completion, it will be publicly launched and each workshop participant will receive a copy.
Registrations of Interest will be evaluated to ensure representation from the most suitable groups and individuals, and respondents will be notified in writing by Friday 9 October 2009.
