Ride For Rural Kids - Charity Night in Parkes

On Monday, 19 October 2009 four community-minded Rugby League referees, including Ben Cummins and former Coonabarabran residents, Chris, Bernard and Gerard Sutton, will take part in Ride for Rural Kids, a challenging seven day, 1000km bicycle ride from Sydney to Coonabarabran to raise funds for Aussie Helpers Children's Fund.

Ride for Rural Kids will pass through Windsor, Oberon, Bathurst, Blayney, Cowra, Forbes, Parkes, Orange, Rylstone, Mudgee, Gulgong, Wellington, Dubbo, Dunedoo, Coolah and Binnaway before finishing up at Coonabarabran on Monday, 26 October.

CENTRAL WEST AGRICENTRE, CRT's ‘Local Bloke', in Parkes, have thrown their support behind the bike ride and organised the following activities to support the team on their way and help raise funds for this worthwhile charity:

Wednesday 21 October:

4.00pm Riders will be escorted into town by Elvis in his Cadillac and will park out the front of the Parkes Leagues Club (photo opportunities)

6.00pm Charity Fundraising Night at the Parkes Leagues Club. The community is invited to attend and meet the riders and enjoy a meal from the club for just $12.00 ($3.00 from each meal sold will be donated back to the 'Ride for Rural Kids'). A charity auction and raffle will also be conducted on the night, plus a special appearance from Elvis.

Thursday 22 October:

9.00am After a BBQ breakfast at Central West Agricentre on Clarinda Street, the riders will make their way to Orange.

Riders Ben, Bernard and Gerard are all National Rugby League referees and Chris, Marketing Liaison Manager with Ruralco Rural Supplies, referees in the Toyota Cup competition. The ride has received strong support from the NRL and from Toyota, Blackman Bicycles, Icons of Sport, The Land newspaper, Macquarie Radio Network 2GB, Xavier Advertising, Ruralco, OSKATM Professional and CRT.

Donations will be able to be made along the Ride for Rural Kids route via participating CRT ‘Local Bloke' stores, participating Toyota dealers and on-line via www.rideforruralkids.com.au
