Australia Day Awards
Parkes Shire Council coordinates an annual awards program presented at the Parkes Australia Day Ceremony to acknowledge and promote the hard work and achievements of community members and groups.
The annual award programs facilitated by Parkes Shire Council are presented on Australia Day in Parkes with nominations for each category invited from the Parkes Shire community. The award categories include
- Parkes Shire Citizen of the year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Community Cultural Group of the Year
- Student of the Year
- Adult of the Year
Sporting awards are also coordinated by the Parkes Sports Council and are also presented on Australia Day.

Parkes NAIDOC Awards
Council's Aboriginal Project Officer and Neighbourhood Central support the facilitation of the annual Parkes NAIDOC Week Awards which celebrate the achievements of local Indigenous People within their Community.
