An opportunity exists to work in the Central West of New South Wales for a fast growing and progressive Local Government Area by becoming the Works Engineer or Works Manager with Parkes Shire Council. This middle management level position will manage Council's operational works teams involved in roads, drainage, parks & gardens and mechanical services and provide strategic advice on maintenance and renewal of Council's assets. The shires economy is underpinned by mining, transport, tourism, agriculture and Government services and has an exciting future as an important inland hub for the national transport network.

Casual Pool Attendant - Parkes - 01 Oct 2008
Applications from suitably qualified applicants will be received by the undersigned up until 10.00am Monday 13 October 2008 for the position of Casual Pool Attendant at the Parkes Pool for the 2008/09 pool season. The primary purpose of the position is to assist the Parkes Pool Superintendents in the management of the daily operations of the pool in accordance with Local and State Government related legislation and Council's service standards.

Mayor Ken Keith supports additional options for Parkes - 15 Aug 2008
The Mayor of Parkes Councillor Ken Keith said he would support additional air service options for the Parkes Shire residents but the important goal is to retain an individual and convenient air service at Parkes.

Before the last Federal election, Central NSW Councils of which Parkes Shire Council is a member was successful in lobbying for one of only two transport studies in NSW.

Parkes pulls off "best ever" Countrylink Inland NSW Tourism Awards - 27 Jul 2008
Parkes hosted over 200 guests on Saturday evening for the inland NSW tourism industry's night of nights, the 2008 CountryLink Inland NSW Tourism Awards held at the Parkes Leagues Club. Election of New Mayor and Deputy Mayor - 18 Jul 2008
Following the retirement from civic life of Cr Robert Wilson OAM, an election for the position of Mayor was held at the Council Meeting on 15 July 2008.
Cr Ken Keith was elected unopposed to the position. Cr Keith has served 17 terms as Deputy Mayor and has been a Parkes Shire Councillor since being first elected in 1983.
An election for the position of Deputy Mayor was held at the same meeting due to Cr Keith's elevation to Mayor. Cr John Magill was elected unopposed to the position of Deputy Mayor. Cr Magill commenced his Local Government career with his election to Council in 1999.
Both Cr Keith and Magill look forward to the challenges of their new positions and look forward to working with their fellow Councillors, staff and the Parkes Shire community in fulfilling the Shire's visions and aspirations. more ..

Newell Highway Promotions Committee meet in Parkes and elect new Chair - 04 Feb 2008
The Newell Highway Promotions Committee met in Parkes this week. The Committee serves to promote traffic flow along the Newell Highway, and aims to increase the expenditure of visitor’s along the Highway in the towns that are spread along it’s length.
