Parkes Shire Pools Strategy - 09 Jul 2009
UPDATE - 20/10/2009

The Parkes Shire Pool Strategy process is being conducted by Strategic Leisure Group. The strategy will provide guidance and direction for the Council in considering upgrades to these important facilities with critical assessment of social, environmental and financial aspects. The outcome of the Pool Feasibility Study will provide a shared strategic vision between Council and the community.
Strategic Leisure Group are working through six stages in the preparation of the Pool Strategy:

Stage 1 – Background Research & Existing Conditions

Stage 2 – Stakeholder Consultation & Needs Analysis

Stage 3 – Synthesis & Preliminary Options

Stage 4 – Financial Analysis & Funding Sources

Stage 5 – Business Planning & Service Delivery

Stage 6 – Report Preparation & Project Finalisation

Strategic Leisure Group met with Councillors and staff on Tuesday 13 October 2009 to discuss the preliminary report for the Pool Strategy following the stakeholder consultation and needs analysis. The preliminary report covered the results of all consultation undertaken by Strategic Leisure Group, formulated preliminary strategic directions, and proposed indicative costing for the options generated, from dealing with high priority safety and maintenance issues only, to meeting the ultimate desires of the pool users.

It was clear from the preliminary costings that funding would be the principal problem facing Council, with a balance to be found between essential works and community expectations.
The workshop reviewed the priorities put forward and considered strategies to enable a way forward, including funding options.

Strategic Leisure Group will now revise the report and present it to Council in November with a view to public consultation again being undertaken late November or early December. more ..
