Parkes Shire Council facilitates and coordinates a number of public exhibitions and cultural programs each year for the enjoyment of our community and visitors.

Parkes Library Event Calendar

16 May to 15 June - NEVER BE LATE FOR A PARADE

This exhibition features a collection of illustrations from Shaun Tan's best-known picture books including The Arrival, The Red Tree, The Lost Thing and the Singing Bones, and celebrates his unique approach to storytelling through this selection of brilliant images, as varied and fascinating as their narratives.

3 to 16 June - ERRATIC SYMBIOSIS

Marking Ub Ubbo Exchange’s ten year anniversary, Parkes Library is hosting an exhibition titled Erratic Symbiosis, Unearthing Past Voices - Sowing Future Visions.

Ub Ubbo Exchange is a non-profit community that has been facilitating cultural exchanges, promoting art exhibits and organising projects in Australia and the Philippines.

Exhibition opening - Saturday 3 June at 11am

Celebration continues at 1pm at the Railway Bowling Club.

20 June to 20 July - LAZY LIONS LOUNGING IN THE LIBRARY

An exhibition of limited edition prints of illustrations from well known Australian children`s picture books - showcasing a range of illustration styles, media and techniques.

Books featured include: A Bird in the Hand! Bob Graham: A Retrospective; ANZAC Illustrated; Chester & Gil - Life is what you make it!; Kids Antarctic Art Project: A creative collaboration by Alison Lester; Running with the Horses and The Many Story Treehouse.
