The Parkes region has a growing reputation as the home of fabulously fun and quirky events.

Parkes Shire is proud to host a range of playful events and unique festivals that provide fun and participation for our community and visitors to the region.

Council provides support and promotional activities for over 70 events that take place annually across the Shire. Large scale festivals like the Parkes Elvis Festival and Trundle ABBA Festival to smaller community events like markets days, sporting events and commemorative ceremonies are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

Parkes Elvis Festival

Second week in January.

Why Elvis in Parkes?

Parkes has been celebrating Elvis Presley for well over two decades. Parkes Elvis Festival was founded in 1992 by local restaurateurs and Elvis fans Bob Steel OAM and Anne Steel OAM, with the inaugural Festival attracting 200 people. Today, Parkes Elvis Festival attracts over 20,000 people from across Australia and around the world, and has become an iconic destination event on the national festivals calendar.

Featuring international and Australian Elvis tribute artists, competitions, the ever-popular street parade, markets and days of free entertainment, Parkes Elvis Festival remains the largest and most vibrant celebration of the music of Elvis Presley in the southern hemisphere.

Tullamore Irish Festival

Visit Tullamore and be treated to a feast of Irish music, dancing and a program of Irish fun at the annual Tullamore Irish Festival every Easter Weekend.

The Festival has been held since 2004, celebrating Tullamore's strong Irish links. Many Irish born settlers moved into the area in the 1900s and today up to 80% of the community retain Irish family connections.

Trundle ABBA Festival

Come and be the dancing queen at the annual Trundle ABBA Festival held on the first Saturday in May.

Enjoy internationally renowned ABBA tribute band 'Bjorn Again', singing competitions and more at this family friendly event. There are great prizes for all competition categories including Fashions of the Festival and Disco Dancing.

Parkes Picnic Races - June Long Weekend

Come along and be a part of the social highlight of the year! The family day out features Fashions on the Field, horse racing and much more!

Trundle Bush Tucker Day

Taking place in Trundle the first Saturday in September every year, the Trundle Bush Tucker Day dishes up a day of fun for participants and spectators, featuring bush cooking competitions, billy boiling sprint, free bush tucker tasting, live bands and a wholesome program of bush entertainment.
