Whether you're into sports, culture, or just love a social outing, there's something for everyone in Parkes Shire this long weekend.

Be daring and take an early leap into the long weekend! Skydive Oz are running skydiving experiences from Parkes Regional Airport on Thursday 6 June. See Parkes from a whole new perspective as you free fall for 60 seconds at over 200km/hr. Bookings can be made online via Skydiving Oz's website, skydiveoz.rezdy.com or by calling 1300 185 180.

Want the adrenaline rush but prefer to stay grounded? Look to the skies at the Parkes Pow Wow miniature aerobatics show. Parkes Model Aero Club are inviting spectators to check out the Scale Aerobatics on Saturday 8 June at the Parkes Miniature Aero Club, Nelungaloo (14kms out on the Brolgan Road). A local favourite in the Parkes social calendar - the annual Parkes Picnic Races will make a fashionable return on Saturday 8 June, with Fashions on the Field guest judge Anna Barwick, a former Peak Hill local.

Anna is a pharmacist, academic, PhD student, mum of two and fashionista. A keen Fashion on the Field entrant at country race meets including winning the Lady of the Day at Tamworth Cup in 2017 and 2018, Armidale Cup, Guyra Cup, Walcha Cup, Tomingley and Mungery. Anna is also the 2008 Land Royal Easter Showgirl. Parkes Picnic Races is a regular outing on her calendar. Known on Instagram as the 'Phashionable Pharmacist', Anna appreciates classic and cutting edge looks while reflecting the seasonal racewear guidelines. This year at Parkes Picnic Races, her attention will be drawn to unique and superbly finished style.

There'll be plenty of trackside entertainment with a five race program including the Coradgery Cup sponsored by McDonalds Parkes, Forbes and Young, full TAB and betting facilities, canteen and bar services, coffee van, live entertainment by Trundle band Geroholom Johnson and the popular Fashions on the Field.

Entry is free for under 16 year olds, with $20 adult general admission tickets available to pre-purchase from Henry Parkes Centre, The Railway Hotel, Parkes and Cambridge Hotels as well as at the gate on the day. Gates open at 11.30am. For all the details, visit parkespicnicraces.com.au.

The Peak Hill Arts and Craft Exhibition returns for the 46th year, with a wonderful display of local arts and crafts. Browse the huge display of local handcrafts and artworks, market stalls and handiwork, before sampling the local delights, including Devonshire tea and homemade soups. Official opening will be held at the Leisure Centre on Friday 7 June, commencing at 6pm. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday at the Southern Cross Hall and Leisure Centre for just $2 per person at each venue from 9:30am to 4pm on both days.

Canine friends will go on show at the Parkes and District Kennel Club Show, with three all breeds championships held at the Parkes Showground on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 June. The event is always a great opportunity to view many different breeds of dogs and their many talents. Three competitions will run over the two days with various categories available to enter. Observers welcome to head along.

Don't miss the action-packed clash between Parkes Spacemen and rugby league rivals Forbes Magpies in the local derby on Sunday at Jock Colley Oval. The local derby is always a stellar match and a great family day out.

The Henry Parkes Centre on the Newell Highway is open all June Long Weekend from 10am to 3pm daily. One ticket gains access to The King's Castle Elvis Exhibit and Parkes Motor Museum. Adult tickets are just $10, Concession $8, Child (under 18) $5 and Family $25.
