Parkes Shire Library will launch its new Click and Collect service commencing Monday 18 May, making borrowing library books a breeze.

While the Library remains temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 restrictions, staff have been busy working to ensure members can continue to access and borrow from the various collections.

Advice provided by the Department of Premier and Cabinet under the Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020 states that public libraries are permitted to operate a click and collect service provided that the library materials are collected by the customer outside the library and for the purposes of that customer’s education.

Manager Cultural Education & Library Services, Kerryn Jones said "we are so excited to resume reservations and borrowing here at Parkes Shire Libraries."

"For the safety of our staff and members, we have implemented a range of control measures including correct hand hygiene to be maintained prior to and after handling items, returned items will be segregated into a dedicated quarantine area and cleaned before being re-shelved, and physical distancing will be strictly observed during the collection and delivery process."

To borrow library items through the Click and Collect service, head to the Online Catalogue.

  • Online Catalogue from home and reserve up to 5 items
  • Log in using your library card number (under the barcode on your card) and password (your birthday DDMMYYYY)
  • Search catalogue
  • Click on title
  • Click on reserve title
  • Select branch for pick up
  • Click on Proceed
  • This item will then appear on a list for the library staff

Library staff will contact you by phone when your reservations are ready to be collected from the library and to book a time for collection. You can collect your items at the front door of your local branch library - Parkes, Peak Hill, Trundle or Tullamore branches. If you are elderly or vulnerable, please organise someone else to collect your items.

For members with no online access at home, you can call your local branch and request up to 5 items.

Please note that the loan period has been extended, therefore there may be delays for certain items to become available for borrowing.
