As part of the Parkes Main Street Revitalisation Project, Parkes Shire Council will re-develop lower Clarinda Street between Welcome and Short Streets with footpath upgrades, new lighting and smart technology, street furniture and green areas to feed into Cooke Park to the new Multipurpose Centre.

By improving the amenity and aesthetic of lower Clarinda Street, Council aims to attract investment, visitation and local spend.

Parkes Shire Council has appointed construction company, CA&I as the contractor to deliver the project. CA&I specialises in building, landscape and civil construction projects for local and state government.

The project will be undertaken in three stages.

Commencement of Stage 3:  January - April 2020

Stage 3 works will commence on Tuesday 28 January 2020 and is expected to be completed in 14 weeks, weather permitting.

Stage 3 construction will take place along Lower Clarinda Street (Eastern side), from Browne Street to Short Street.

What work will occur?

  • Landscaping

What do you need to be aware of?

Browne Street will be subject to a full road closure from Thursday 27 February until Friday 6 March 2020 to enable the full road pavement reconstruction of Browne Street and Clarinda Street.

Following road pavement construction, commencement of Garden Blisters will occur, plus the construction of the concrete median. These works will be followed by a final sheet of road asphalt, linemarking and permanent signage.

Work will be conducted during standard hours. Standard work hours are from:

  • Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm
  • Saturday, 8am to 4pm

Should work be required outside of these hours, CA&I will notify affected residents and business operators prior to the commencement of these works.

CA&I staff will advise of any necessary disruption prior to the work being undertaken.

There will be periods of medium to high level noise associated with the excavation of the footpath and road pavements. CA&I will manage the noise, vibration and dust precautions.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project.

A number of parking spaces will be temporarily unavailable during Zone 2 works. We note that parking will be re-established in the areas of the Stage 1 construction.
