Parkes Shire Council has been selected as a finalist across three categories at 2018 NSW Tourism Awards for excellence in Festival & Events, Destination Marketing and Visitor Information Services.

Parkes Shire Mayor Cr Ken Keith OAM was elated with the news saying that he was proud of Council’s efforts in the tourism development space.

“This recognition highlights the successful initiatives that Council is implementing to grow the visitor economy of the Parkes Region including staging world class Parkes Elvis Festival, delivering strategic marketing campaigns and exceptional visitor information to the 100,000+ visitors to the Parkes Region each year.”

“After taking out the win at the Regional Awards, the Parkes Elvis Festival is now aiming to take home the Gold Award at the state level to make it a hattrick three years running, which would achieve hall of fame status.”

“Congratulations is also extended to local accommodation provider, Kristen Accommodation who is a finalist in the Self Contained Accommodation category. We look forward to also celebrating the many other local government areas in the Central NSW region who also finalists at the awards.”  Said Cr Keith
