At its Ordinary Meeting held 17 May 2022, Parkes Shire Council resolved to place its draft Code of Meeting Practice on public exhibition, pursuant to section 361 of the Local Government Act 1993.
The Code of Meeting Practice sets out how meetings of Council and its committees will be made accessible, orderly, effective and efficient through appropriate tools and materials, including meeting papers, the rules of debate and how individuals can address Council on matters to be considered.
The Local Government Act 1993 requires Council to exhibit and adopt a new Code of Meeting Practice within the first 12 months of a new term. The Code of Meeting Practice must incorporate all mandatory provisions of the Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW prescribed by the NSW Office of Local Government.
The draft Code of Meeting Practice has been revised to incorporate options to permit individual councillors to attend meetings by audio-visual link, and to hold meetings by audio-visual link in the event of natural disasters or public health emergencies.
To have your say, please review the Draft Code of Meeting Practice and share any comments you have via Council's Your Say Parkes engagement platform.
Alternatively, you can send your comments via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by mail to:
The General Manager, Parkes Shire Council PO Box 337 Parkes NSW 2870.
The public exhibition period will conclude close of business Tuesday 28 June 2022.
Council welcomes and encourages your feedback.
