Parkes Waste Facility upgrades
Parkes Waste Facility has undergone major upgrades to deliver improved customer services and sustainable outcomes comparable to larger waste facilities in terms of operating efficiency, safety and environmental performance.
Parkes Shire Council recognises the importance of providing effective waste services in delivering positive public health, environmental and economic outcomes for the community. Waste management is a growing issue and cost for Parkes Shire Council. More waste than ever is being produced and the traditional means of landfilling is becoming increasingly regulated and expensive to administer.
On 1 August 2017, waste disposal charges were introduced for domestic waste loads to improve waste and recyclable management and disposal techniques in order to reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill.
See the Fees and Charges page for details on the costs of using the Parkes Waste Facility.
The drop-off area will have a collection point for household recyclables which will be free.
