Every Child Deserves to Start School Ready to Learn

Parkes Shire Project Sprouts, a community-led initiative supported by Neighbourhood Central that was officially launched on Wednesday 21 October.

Project Sprouts was established to develop into a referral service linking families and educators to service providers and enabling our children to have the best beginning available.

Located at the ARTC Office Clarinda Street Parkes, the primary focus for local Coordinator, Anne Norton, is to facilitate communication and coordination between families, paediatric health providers and education in the screening and follow-up therapy of children aged 4 and 5 to ensure their best start to formal schooling, as well as encouraging increased community capacity to improve childhood developmental outcomes via parent communication activities.

Where no local services are available to screen children or upskill adults, Royal Far West is providing health and developmental screenings, as well as supplying training for teachers, parents and service providers to increase their understanding of child development.
