A sustainable system
Sewerage services for a sustainable future.
Parkes Shire Council provides sewerage services to the towns of Parkes, Peak Hill, Trundle and Tullamore.
Currently Parkes Council owns and operates four (4) Sewage Treatment Works. Parkes and Peak Hill plants are typical bacteria bed (trickling filter) systems, while Trundle and Tullamore are passive oxidation ponds.
Council continues to plan for the long term sustainability of sewage management with the construction of a new Sewage Treatment Plant in Parkes at a cost over $30M. The new Sewage Treatment Plant will provide robust, energy efficient sewage treatment for Parkes into the future.
For more information about Sewage services and infrastructure, go to the Utilities section of the website.

Problems with sewerage?
It’s a good idea to contact Council first.
If you are experiencing problems with sewerage, it is advisable to contact Council before ringing a plumber so that we can identify if the problem is with our sewer system, or if it is related to your property. This may save you the expense of calling out a service person.
Help keep our sewerage system free from blockages
Our sewerage system is only designed to take away toilet paper and human waste, so when other items end up in the pipes, they can cause blockages at your property as well as problems for the broader sewerage system.
It’s important to remember that only the 3P's should be flushed down the toilet - Pee, Poo and toilet Paper!
