The Parkes Aquatic Centre will open its doors on the 3 October for the 2020-21 pool season, although there will be some changes in place as a result of the NSW Government COVID-19 restrictions.
Parkes Shire Mayor Cr Ken Keith OAM said "as the warmer weather approaches, we are excited that the pools are re-opening however please expect some changes and strict guidelines to be put in place as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic."
"We ask that our community and visitors please respect these changes as staff are doing their best to keep the facility a safe place for everyone to enjoy."
These changes will include:
- From Monday-Friday the Parkes pool will be closed to the public between 1-3pm for cleaning sanitisation in line with COVID-19 Government regulations.
- All visitors will be required to fill out a covid registration form upon entry
- physical distancing measures including restrictions in changerooms and the number of swimmers per lane.
- Throughout the school term, general public will not be permitted to access the pool when school swimming lessons are taking place.
A weekly timetable and what's on will be available to ensure our community can stay up to date with changed access hours.
The Learn to Swim program will be commencing from 26th October with registrations now open via forms available from Council's website.
Season tickets for the coming 2020-21 season can be purchased from the Parkes Pool kiosk which will be open from Wednesday 30th September to Friday 2nd October from 12noon to 6pm.
Mayor Ken Keith, OAM explained "admission into the Peak Hill, Trundle and Tullamore swimming pools will be free for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. Parkes Shire township pools are expected to open in November 2020 for the 2020-21 swimming season. More details and confirmed dates will be decided at our next Council meeting."
