Council, NSW Government and ARTC partner with SCT for Industry Event in Sydney
On Friday 21 June 2019, SCT Group held an industry breakfast event in Sydney, hosting key personnel from shipping lines, freight forwarders and major FMCG businesses to showcase Parkes NSW as the rail gateway to the nation and ports. The event was held in conjunction with the Parkes Shire Council, ARTC and the NSW Government at Deckhouse in Woolwich.
Steph Cooke MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier, Hon John Barilaro MP opened the breakfast with a welcome speech, showing her passion for opportunities in both her electorate and regional NSW.
ARTC’s Manager of Marketing & Business Development, Glen Richmond, highlighted the benefits of Inland Rail and the efficiencies that businesses in Parkes will see through the completion of the project.
Anna Wyllie, Parkes Shire Council’s Economic & Business Development Manager, gave the audience an insight into the offerings of Parkes and future planning for businesses and lifestyle.
SCT’s General Manager of Commercial, Pat Kerin emphasised the long standing commitment of SCT in Parkes and explained the wide-ranging capabilities of the business including the development of intermodal hubs across Australia, unique efficiencies on rail due to innovation and equipment, property developments on rail and the continued growth through logistics solutions.
Ian Smith, Director for NSW Office of Regional Economic Development, presented on Parkes as a Special Activation Precinct, sustainability in regional NSW and the investment incentive packages currently on offer.
The event concluded with a Q&A session with Glen Richmond, Anna Wyllie, Steph Cooke MP and SCT’s CEO Glenn Smith, responding to questions regarding infrastructure and port connectivity with Inland Rail.
