Publilc Notice on behalf of InLink for the Inland Rail Project.
Works will commence to upgrade and build the first section of the Inland Rail, from Parkes to Narromine from 6am Friday 11 September 2020 to 10am Monday 21 September 2020.
Please expect minor delays and changes traffic conditions throughout this period. The commissioning of the railway line requires testing of the rail signals near level crossings and inside signalling huts, over eleven days and nights. This requires for the bells, lights and boom gates to be tested at level crossings across Parkes.
Works to the Parkes Shire include:
- Level crossings being tested are at; Brolgan Road, Henry Parkes Way, Back Trundle Road, London/Blaxland Road (level crossing closed), Newell Highway, East Street and Nash Street, Parkes
- At signalling huts in the rail corridor at Back Trundle Road, and between Nash Street and Henry Parkes Way, Parkes.
The level crossing at London Road/Blaxland Road will be temporarily closed for the duration of the testing. All other roads will remain open during testing, however traffic control will be in place to assist road users and short delays maybe experienced.
Please expect short delays at level crossings, traffic control during the work to safely manage the traffic, light vehicles traveling to and from the level crossings and the use of lighting towers and handheld tools.
Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project connecting regional Australia to domestic and international markets. Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has engaged INLink (a joint venture between BMD Constructions and Fulton Hogan) to upgrade and build the first section of the Inland Rail, from Parkes to Narromine.
Rail has been installed in this section, the rail will be ‘live’ and construction trains will be intermittently passing across the level crossing. For your continued safety, please ensure you obey all signage at level crossings.
