Council is holding a public hearing into the Reclassification of Council-owned land in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993

At its ordinary meeting in October 2021 Council resolved to support a planning proposal to: 

  • Reclassify Lots 4, 5 & 6 DP 510590 and Lot 1 DP 1060599, 19- 33 High Street, Parkes (Council's existing water reservoir site)
  • Lot 142 DP 1071623 Hazelbank Avenue, Parkes.

In accordance with the requirements of the Gateway Determination issued by the NSW Department Planning and Environment a public hearing will be held into the proposed reclassification of multiple parcels of Council-owned land.  

The public hearing will take place at the Parkes Shire Council Administration Building at 2 Cecile Street, Parkes on Thursday, 7 July 2022 at 5.30pm. 

If you would like to participate in the public hearing, please register by 4pm the day of the public hearing by phoning Council's Planning and Community Services Department on (02) 6861 2373. 

The public hearing will be chaired by a person who is independent of Council. The public hearing provides the public with an opportunity to make a short verbal presentation to the chairperson of the hearing. Written submissions will also be accepted by the chairperson. 

Following the public hearing, the chairperson will prepare a report on the hearing, a copy of which will be publicly available once it has been received by Council. 

Individual presentations should be no longer than five minutes each. 

The land proposed for reclassification from community to operational is listed below: 

  • Reclassify Lots 4, 5 & 6 DP 510590 and Lot 1 DP 1060599, 19- 33 High Street, Parkes (Council's existing water reservoir site)
  • Lot 142 DP 1071623 Hazelbank Avenue, Parkes.
