Retailers collaborate to revamp Parkes

Local retailers have joined forces to visually transform Clarinda Street as part of Back to Business Week.

Fifteen retail operators recently took part in Parkes Shire Council's Retail Revamp program, aimed at inspiring small to medium business operators to re-think visual merchandising. Shopfront windows lining the main street were made-over during the exciting series of visual merchandising workshops.

Parkes Shire Council's Economic and Business Development Manager, Anna Wyllie said "the Retail Revamp project was aimed to inspire local retailers to rethink visual merchandising".

"The workshops are designed to teach retailers how to effectively utilise their strongest marketing asset, their shop windows, to make a positive first impression."

In association with the Department of Industry, visual merchandising specialist, Carol Bagaric from AusVM hosted four workshops across three days with three of these workshops being in-store.

"The strength and power of the Parkes retailers coming together, helping each other make statements with their shop windows, whilst having a giggle and networking at the same time, was so refreshing to see," Carol Bagaric said.

"Through collaboration comes the creation and that's evident in the support and motivation these retailers have shown each other and in creating the fresh, new, beautiful displays."

Participants learnt about trends, colours and theory practices to create a visual story in their shop window displays.

Thank you to Parkes Newsagency, Parkes Stationery and Office Furniture and Parkes Sportspower who enabled the participants to put theory into practice within their stores.

"We loved having the girls in store implementing the practices within our business," said Christine and Chloe form Parkes Newsagency.

Residents are encouraged to check out the newly transformed shop displays and let us know your views via Council's Facebook and Twitter pages.
