This week Parkes Shire Council launched the 'Buckets Christmas Shopping Challenge' on the Shop Parkes Facebook page. The innovative social media campaign features Parkes local, Dan 'Buckets' Wilson, calling out for help with his Christmas shopping for a range of family members and relatives.

The Buckets Christmas Challenge will be running on the Shop Parkes Facebook page from Monday 23 November until mid-December. Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday Buckets will be posting a video asking for our local communities help with his Christmas gift shopping.

Dan 'Buckets' Wilson said "we are asking our local community to follow along, tag a local gift idea or share an image of a local gift in the comments and the most creative idea will win 1 of 10 $100 Shop Parkes Gift Cards."

Throughout the challenge Buckets will be shopping for a range of family members including his fiancé, twin nephews, parents, cousins and grandma. "Given the rough year we have all had, lets keep the ideas local and the dollars going around in our town," Dan said.

The Buckets Christmas Challenge is a fun, engaging challenge and we strongly encourage all members of the Parkes Shire to follow along, share their ideas, tag a local business and help each other shop local this festive season.

Parkes Shire Councillor Alan Ward said, "together Parkes Shire Council and Parkes Chamber of Commerce are strongly encouraging our local community to shop local, particularly this Christmas after a challenging year. The Buckets Christmas Challenge is a part of the Christmas Shop Local Campaign inspiring individuals to 'give the community a gift this Christmas and shop local."

"To get involved and join in on the fun, follow Shop Parkes on Facebook, comment on the videos released each Monday, Wednesday & Friday and go in the draw to win 1 of 10 $100 Shop Parkes Gift Cards", said Cr Ward.
