A rocking good time

The hugely popular Parkes Elvis Festival attracts tens of thousands of revellers celebrating everything Elvis.

It’s been 30 years since founders, Bob and Anne Steel, dreamed up the concept of celebrating the life and music of Elvis Presley.

The Festival now attracts more than 24,000 visitors annually, features the world’s best Elvis tribute artists, has a global media reach of 599 million and injects over $13m into the regional economy.

Featuring international and Australian Elvis tribute artists, competitions, the ever-popular street parade, markets and a variety of free entertainment, Parkes Elvis Festival remains the largest and most vibrant celebration of the music of Elvis Presley in the southern hemisphere.

Council's Involvement

Elvis Revival Inc is the volunteer committee that managed the event since its inception in 1993. With the ever growing success of the Parkes Elvis Festival and the major tourism asset that it has become for the community, they elected to hand over its event management to Parkes Shire Council in 2014. The primary decision behind the transfer of management to Council was the need for strategic growth planning to be developed and implemented to ensure the long-term viability of the Festival.

A Section 355 Committee was convened in May 2014 and a full time Festival Director was employed who is supported by the entire organisation of Council to deliver the program, marketing, logistics and infrastructure for the event.
