How to join our libraries

It’s free! Books, computers, DVD’s, local history, children’s activities and more.

The Parkes Shire Library Service has four libraries. A central library at Parkes and three branches at Peak Hill, Trundle and Tullamore. Find out more about our locations and opening hours.

Please note, Parkes Shire Libraries are currently closed due to the COVID-19 virus so we are offering Online Membership only for new members at this time.  If you are not currently a member of Parkes Library and would like an online membership so that you can enjoy all of our online resources please email  Please include your name, date of birth and suburb of residence.  Alternately if you are a member and have forgotten your login details please also email

Joining Parkes Shire Library is FREE! All you need is identification that shows your name, address and signature. This could be a driving licence, health care card or firearms license. If a person under the age of 16 wishes to join the library they will need their parent’s or guardian’s consent. For more information, view our Frequently Asked Questions.

You can borrow a maximum of 20 items per library card, with a further restriction on 10 DVDs per card. You can borrow books, DVDs, music, magazines, large print, talking books and much more! For more information about Collections and Resources click on the What Can Your Borrow section.

We also provide a number of services for the community, including Storytime for children, professional searching, Internet access, Wi-Fi access, word processing, online training, online databases and printing services.
