Learn to Swim
Swimming is an essential skill for life. Join our learn to swim program.
Parkes Shire Council coordinates a learn to swim program operating from October to March at the Parkes Aquatic Centre. Different programs are available for different ages (from 6 months old) and abilities.
We are now taking enrolments for 2021-22, see the information enrolment booklet at the end of this page.
Parkes Learn to Swim is an Austswim recognised swim school.
Our Learn to Swim program instructors play an important role in educating the community on the importance of water safety and swimming skills.
Our program instructors are all accredited with AUSTSWIM/ASCTA and have been screened according to legislative requirements. They have been chosen based on a combination of their technical knowledge, enthusiasm and the ability to build rapport with their students.
Our instructors have an empathetic approach to teaching in order to ensure all children feel comfortable and confident at all times.
Learn to Swim Programs
All Learn to Swim classes include a five minute safety discussion each week prior to commencement of the lesson. The discussions will focus on different types of water environments to help parents, carers and children learn how to stay safe when around water and when swimming in other places.
