Due to the risk of COVID-19 and as per Government directives, public facilities including function centres, museums, sporting complexes, playgrounds & recreation equipment in the Shire are closed.

Parkes Shire has so much to offer when it comes to healthy and sociable pursuits and our sporting facilities earn the admiration of the most discerning enthusiast.
These include a solar heated outdoor Olympic swimming pool; 18 hole grass-green golf course; rugby league, rugby union, little athletics and AFL ovals; 2 synthetic hockey fields; 3 turf wicket ovals for cricket; 15 synthetic tennis courts; squash, basketball and netball complexes; 2 bowling clubs; racecourse and trotting track; soccer fields; aero club; archery, paintball and various forms of shooting ranges.
Sporting grounds (active recreation) are generally managed by the Parkes Sports Council, with Council staff maintaining ovals where the Sports Council does not have the necessary equipment.
