Walk or cycle in Parkes Shire

Active movement for health and wellbeing in the beautiful outdoors.

Parkes Shire Council is committed to improvement of health and wellbeing in Parkes Shire. Council has recently adopted a Pedestrian and Cycling Strategy which was prepared in consultation with the community and key user groups to ensure the correct mix of footpath connections, new shared paths, cycling routes, outdoor exercise equipment and end-of-trip facilities that appeals to all stages of life for our residents.

Council maintains over 48,000 square metres of footpath asset throughout the Shire. Over 2,500 square metres has undergone recent upgrades and widening for shared footpath and cycle access with more upgrades planned.

There are a number of identified walking trails in the region that provide challenging and enjoyable routes for all ages and fitness levels. These include the North-East Parkes walking/cycle track, the Peak Hill Nature Walk and the Tullamore Walking Track.
