Waterways in Parkes Shire

Recreation activities you may enjoy along our waterways.

Parkes Shire features a number of waterways that provide opportunities for recreational activities. These waterways act primarily as water supply reserves for Parkes and Peak Hill and permit passive recreation activities only such as bushwalking, birdwatching, kayaking and fishing.

While some locations require an access permit from Council, keen fisherwomen and fishermen must pay the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee to obtain a fishing licence to fish in NSW waterways.

NSW Recreational Fishing Permits can be obtained from Service NSW

For further information on access and activities permitted at our waterway sites, please contact Council's Engineering Department on 02 6861 2344.
