Parkes Shire Council wishes to advise residents of changes to the dates for the 2021 Waste to Art Competition and Exhibition. Entries will remain open until 5pm on Friday 7 May 2021. Works can be delivered to the Parkes Library and Cultural Centre from Monday 10 May to Saturday 15 May 2021.

Waste to Art’s aim is to challenge perceptions about ‘rubbish’ and to celebrate the reuse and recycling of waste through arts and crafts. Waste 2 Art provides an innovative approach to waste education, invites schools and community groups to take up the challenge and create a new life for materials that would otherwise have been thrown away.

The Waste 2 Art Community Art Competition and Exhibition is open to all community members, artists and schools who currently reside in the NetWaste region. If you are outside of the Parkes Shire, contact your local council to find out more.

The Exhibition will be officially opened on Monday 31 May at 6pm, in the Coventry Room and will run until Saturday 26 June 2021.

Parkes Shire Deputy Mayor Cr Barbara Newton, "It's great to see the enthusiasm from our community for such a worthy cause. There is so much local talent, we hope that the extended time will give our community members the opportunity to submit their work for this wonderful exhibition."

Entries can be submitted online via www.visitparkes.com.au or in person at the Parkes Shire Library.
