Council’s role in emergency management

Planning, liaison, response and recovery.

Parkes Shire Council acts as the liaison between the local emergency services and the community, co-ordinating planning and response to emergencies within the Parkes Shire.

Emergency Management within the Parkes Shire area is co-ordinated by the Parkes Shire Local Emergency Management Committee. Parkes Council is required to support the Committee to ensure that arrangements are in place for the prevention of, response to, and recovery from emergencies.

The Parkes Shire Local Emergency Management Plan is the document that sets out the roles and responsibilities of responders and community partners, and details how support will be co-ordinated in the preparation for, response to and recovery from emergencies.
