Council’s role in emergency management
Planning, liaison, response and recovery.
Parkes Shire Council acts as the liaison between the local emergency services and the community, co-ordinating planning and response to emergencies within the Parkes Shire.
Emergency Management within the Parkes Shire area is co-ordinated by the Parkes Shire Local Emergency Management Committee. Parkes Council is required to support the Committee to ensure that arrangements are in place for the prevention of, response to, and recovery from emergencies.
The Parkes Shire Local Disaster Plan is the document that sets out the roles and responsibilities of combat agencies, prevention strategies, stages of activation of the Plan, the response processes, and the recovery process following an emergency.
