Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation (RGDC) has entered into a project development agreement with Parkes Energy Recovery Pty Ltd (Proponent) to establish an energy-from-waste (EFW) facility within the Parkes Special Activation Precinct (Precinct), which is located west of Parkes.

The application to develop the project will be assessed by the State Government and will require a license from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). Together with the community, Parkes Shire Council will be part of the ongoing consultation with the Consortium and NSW Government and will continue to ensure Parkes Energy Recovery places the safety of the community as a top priority.

These facilities are constantly evolving; each one must be specifically designed for its location and waste streams. Given the complexity of this project and the fact that many details will only emerge as studies are completed, we are committed to working carefully and methodically through all the information that will come to light over the next two years of investigation. This approach ensures that our considerations are well-informed and based on comprehensive data, ultimately leading to reliable and effective consideration.
