The Community Fibre Arts Exhibition was officially opened on Saturday 15 March 2025 in the Coventry Room. The exhibition was open for submissions to all community members and artists with strong connections to Parkes Shire and featured over 100 entries submitted by more than 40 artists and crafts people.
Mayor Neil Westcott described the exhibition as "a testament to the strong art community and diversity of talent we have here in the Parkes Shire, and the enthusiasm to participate and exhibit."
Kylie Shead officially opened the exhibition and commended the artists involved in the exhibition, stating that “Fibre Art has an incredible history and is of great cultural importance, as it tells the story of family, society and the environment and has done for thousands of years as one of the oldest art forms. This exhibition is a wonderful example of bringing community together and showcasing this important art form.”
