Middleton Masterplan

The Middleton Urban Masterplan sets the guidelines and proposed future for the locality of Middleton, situated south of the Orange-Broken Hill Railway Line and east of Forbes Road (the former Newell Highway). The Parkes Shire Housing Strategy 2021 (PSHS) has identified Middleton as a key growth area due to its proximity to the urban area of Parkes and infrastructure services making it the ideal location for future population growth within the township of Parkes.   

Future growth in Middleton is set to add a variety of new dwellings, roads, utilities, and open space in a coordinated and sustainable manner. To house a growing population, Middleton is set to undergo a transition from rural-residential to urban residential land to help facilitate the development of new housing stock within the district.  

A key aim of the masterplan is to create a high quality, liveable community that supports long-term growth while maintaining accessibility and environmental resilience. This ensures that future development is guided by a comprehensive planning framework while meeting the needs of the current and future residents.
