Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) Reporting and Advice On Display Indefinitely Council is aware of the recent confirmation of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) H5N1, commonly known as bird flu, in wild birds across several Australian jurisdictions, including New South Wales. This strain of avian influenza has caused significant wildlife mortality events internationally, and authorities have advised that further spread and additional bird deaths may occur.
