At Parkes Shire Council We do our best to find loving homes for animals in our care as quickly as possible. In addition to listing animals for adoption on our website and Facebook page for our community to adopt, we also work closely with a number of registered rehoming groups that help adopt most of the animals at our shelter to ensure they can find their new forever home.
The Companion Animals Act specifies the minimum periods in which animals must be kept in our care before they can be rehomed to a new owner. This is to provide opportunity for existing animal owners to collect their animal.
Sometimes, there may be a delay in the collection of animals being adopted as rehoming groups are based outside Parkes and need to travel to pick them up. This means some animals may stay in our shelter a little longer than expected, but rest assured, they are being well cared for in the meantime.
Parkes Shire Council is committed to improving outcomes for impounded animals and helping them find safe, loving homes.
