Council wishes to inform you of upcoming works at 60 Currajong Street, Parkes - a property recently acquired by Council for future strategic purposes. The site, which has fallen into disrepair, is located adjacent to the Woolworths carpark and is currently overgrown with vegetation and subject to illegal dumping.
To improve the condition, safety, and amenity of the site, Council will be undertaking the following works:
- Removal of all vegetation, including hedges and trees
- Rubbish removal via Jansen Lane
- Removal of boundary fencing
- Placement of gravel hardstand across the site
- Interim use of the site as unmarked overflow carparking
These works are part of Council’s ongoing commitment to improving the presentation and functionality of the town centre and will support future development or public use of the site, as required.
Works are scheduled to commence Monday 19 May 2025 and are expected to continue for approximately four (4) weeks, weather permitting.
During this period, traffic control measures will be implemented where required, particularly along Jansen Lane to facilitate the safe removal of rubbish. Council will also undertake dust suppression activities throughout the works to minimise disruption to neighbouring properties and businesses. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to exercise caution around the site and to follow any signage or directions provided by Council staff.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we undertake these improvements. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Council's Executive Manager Operations, Marisa Malherbe, on 6861 2344.
