Under the Local Government Act 1993, Parkes Shire Council is responsible for managing waste in the Shire, including the urban waste and recycling facility in Parkes.

- Tuesday - Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm (last entry 4.15 pm)
- Weekends 10 am - 4.30 pm (last entry 4.15 pm)
Community Recycling Centre (CRC) Opening Hours
- Tuesday - Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm (last entry 4.15 pm)
- Weekends 10 am - 4.30 pm (last entry 4.15 pm)
The Waste and Recycling Facility is Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday

Items accepted free of charge
The Centre accepts household quantities (20kg or 20L) of the following problem wastes for free:
- water-based and oil-based paints
- used motor oils and other oils
- lead-acid and hand-held batteries
- gas cylinders and fire extinguishers
- conventional tube and compact fluorescent lamps
- smoke detectors
- aerosols
