About the Studies:

  • East Parkes Flood Study: This study examines the catchment of Goobang Creek (approx. 900 km²), from upstream areas through to about 10 km south of Parkes town centre. It involves a detailed technical investigation of flood behaviour, using historical flood data and hydraulic models to provide a better understanding of flood risks and to guide future floodplain management.

  • Parkes Town Flood & Drainage Study: This study looks at the entire Parkes Town Centre area, including the existing stormwater drainage network and areas planned for future development. It uses hydrologic and hydraulic models, combined with local flood history, to understand flood behaviour and support the development of a robust floodplain risk management plan.
