Northparkes Oval - Light Pole Removal and Temporary Power Works
Parkes Shire Council advises that a light pole located at the south-west corner of Northparkes Oval has been deemed structurally unsafe and has been removed.
Earlier today, Council’s Sports Field team observed a significant lean in the pole. Upon inspection, several bolts securing it to the foundation were found to be loose. Crews from Little’s Power, Essential Energy, and Knights Cranes attended the site and confirmed that the pole posed a safety risk and required immediate removal.
As a precaution, power to all field lighting has been disconnected. A temporary power solution will be installed within two weeks to restore lighting to the remaining poles and support night-time training.
The removed light pole will remain on the athletics field events area until a safe removal plan is finalised. Council is mindful of upcoming school athletics carnivals and will make every effort to remove the pole ahead of these events.
We ask that all field users avoid the affected area and foundation until further notice.
