Performance and Feedback

Council will let you know what is expected of you in your role, behaviours and the values that we live by. You will be given the opportunity to contribute and be given ongoing feedback throughout the year at your Annual Appraisal Review. Annual Performance Appraisal reviews are an opportunity to set goals and reflect on your performance.

Health and Wellbeing

Council offers many programs throughout the year to help maintain your health. These include health checks, hearing tests, eye tests, walking challenges and skin cancer checks that are funded by Council.

Employee Assistance Programme

Councils Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is provided through an arrangement with independent counsellors. The EAP is a confidential, voluntary and free counselling service provided by qualified people. It is there for you to use if you wish to receive help in dealing with any issues that are affecting your work or life in general.

Social Club

Council employees are encouraged to be involved in our active social clubs that offer a range of activities and good times for you and your family.

Rostered Day

Council offers a nine day fortnight to all full time employees.

Leave Entitlements

Council employees are given 4 weeks annual leave, and sick leave of 15 days which includes provision of Carers Leave. Long Service Leave is available after 5 years of Service. Paid Parental Leave provides options for paid leave from Council and government funded leave.

Superannuation

Council offers a choice of funds or the opportunity to join the Local Government Superannuation Scheme with salary sacrifice options available. We fund superannuation currently at 9.25%.

Salary Sacrifice

Council offers salary sacrifice for additional personal superannuation contributions and motor vehicles leases.

Child Safe Organisation

Parkes Shire Council, in cooperation with the Office of the Children's Guardian, is a Child Safe Organisation. Parkes Shire Council employees who work with children and young people have a responsibility to promote their wellbeing and protect them from harm.
