Road Closures

Due to the current wet conditions, all unsealed roads in the Parkes Shire are closed to vehicles over 3 tonnes, except school buses, emergency vehicles and Council road plant.

This restriction will apply until 10.00am Monday 13 May 2024. The situation will be reviewed at this time.

Council regrets the inconvenience caused; however, the preservation of the road asset is of prime importance. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution when travelling in the wet weather.

The following roads in the Parkes Shire are CLOSED due to flooding:

  • Boorr Hill Road (SR122), flooding at Bogan River
  • Bogan Road (SR76), closed between Peak Hill - Tullamore Road and Taweni Road, detour via Taweni Road (SR82A)
  • Middle Trundle Road (SR83)
  • Mercadool Lane (SR114)
  • Blow Clear Road (SR85)
  • Tubby Lees Rd (SR197)
  • Leafy Tank Road (SR197)
  • Bruie Plains Road (SR1158)
  • Peak Hill - Tullamore Road (MR348), closed at Bogan River, detour via Mingerong and Bogan Road
  • The McGrane Way (MR354)

Please avoid walking or driving through flood waters, it may be deeper or faster flowing than anticipated an/or the road may have suffered extensive damage hidden beneath the water.

The following roads in the Parkes Shire are OPEN with WATER OVER ROAD:

  • The Bogan Way (MR350)
  • Back Trundle Road (SR84)
  • Middle Trundle Road (SR83)

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution when travelling in the wet weather. 

The following roads in the Parkes Shire are closed: 

  • Maguire Road from Bleechmore Road to Newell Highway (part of Parkes Bypass works)
