Dog Ban Now in Force at Three Sporting Fields

Parkes Shire Council is reminding residents that dogs are now prohibited at Harrison Park, Woodward Oval and Keast Park, with patrols to be conducted over the coming weeks to ensure the new restrictions are observed.

Tune up for Book Week! Join our Symphony of Stories at the Peak Hill Library. In the month leading up to Book Week, read all six CBCA shortlisted books for your age group, add your note to our library's music score and help compose a Book Week concerto of stories.

Storytime

Join us every Tuesday morning during Term time for some fun at Storytime. Foster a love of reading, rhyming and singing each week with your little one. Storytime is aimed at preschool aged children aged 3 - 5 years.

Symphony of Stories Rhyme Time

Join us at Peak Hill Library Rhyme Time this August as we celebrate this year's Book Week theme, Symphony of Stories, with music-filled stories in the lead-up to Book Week. Come dressed as your favourite book character and enjoy "Bertie The Bear" by Pamela Allen as the music begins!

Road Closures

Parkes Shire Council wishes to advise of the following current road closures throughout the Parkes Shire.

Mugincoble Silos Access Road Upgrade

On display until 30 October 2026

Parkes Shire Council is progressing the Mugincoble Silos Access Road Upgrade, with a strong focus on improving safety for all road users and supporting safer, more efficient freight movements around the Mugincoble Silos. As part of the upcoming site establishment works, fencing will be erected around the project area from 10 August 2026. Tree removal works are scheduled to commence from 31 August.

Temporary Road Closure – Ainsworth Street, Parkes

On display until 24 September 2026

Council wishes to advise residents of the temporary closure of Ainsworth Street to enable the completion of water infrastructure, kerb and gutter works, and roadworks associated with the subdivision of the former hospital site.

Draft Henry Parkes Centre Masterplan

Parkes Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Henry Parkes Centre Masterplan, now on public exhibition from 30 July 2026 to 27 August 2026. The Henry Parkes Centre is one of the region's key tourism and heritage destinations, bringing together a range of attractions that celebrate the history, culture and stories of Parkes and the surrounding region.

Development Applications on Exhibition

Council places Development Applications on the MyParkes portal from time to time as and when they are ready for public exhibition. Check this site periodically to find any DAs you may wish to review.

The MyParkes Portal web site displays all Development Applications currently on public exhibition within the Parkes Shire.
