Restoring critical water infrastructure damaged by the 2022 floods

Parkes Shire Council has been awarded one-off funding under the NSW Government’s Central West Water and Wastewater Program (CWWWP) to support the reinstatement and rehabilitation of critical water infrastructure damaged during the severe weather and catastrophic flooding across Central West NSW in September 2022.

The NSW Government has approved $22.9 million (excluding GST) for the project.

Our projects

The funding will support two key projects within the Parkes Shire.

About the program

The Central West Water and Wastewater Program was established by the NSW Government to support Parkes Shire, Lachlan Shire, Cabonne Shire and Central Tablelands Water following the severe weather and catastrophic floods that affected Central West NSW from 14 September 2022 (AGRN1034).

The program aims to restore critical water and wastewater infrastructure damaged by the floods and, where practicable, improve its resilience to future events.

Project objectives

The project aims to:

  • restore essential functionality to critical water infrastructure
  • address damage caused by the 2022 floods
  • improve infrastructure resilience where practicable
  • reduce risks associated with flood-damaged infrastructure
  • deliver priority works within the approved funding allocation.
