The Parkes Sports Council is a Section 355 committee of Council that engages with the sporting groups in the Shire on the use and development of sports fields and facilities. Sporting groups are encouraged to send a representative to attend regular monthly meetings. Fees raised by Parkes Shire Council from member groups are used to subsidise the cost of maintenance of grounds. Council has two nominated Councillor representatives on the Sports Council. The group also facilitates the Life Member Honour Board, Parkes Shire Sports Awards including the Ron Harrison Rising Star, the Legends of Sport and the Northparkes/Parkes Shire Council Sports and Rising Star Grants scheme.
